Restoration & Reuse Projects
Restoration is not simply about preserving the past—it is about giving it meaning in the present. Adaptive reuse projects connect historical continuity with contemporary needs, blending memory with new function. Architecture becomes a tool for dialogue, reactivating dormant spaces and integrating them into the evolving urban fabric.
Set against the historic backdrop of the Yedikule city walls, this restoration project transforms an abandoned gasworks complex into a vibrant maker campus. The site includes three distinct buildings, reimagined through sensitive architectural intervention and contextual landscaping. The central gasworks structure, once industrial, now houses a circular sunken amphitheater for talks, seminars, and educational gatherings on the ground floor—its upper levels converted into an open-access library that fosters learning and exchange. The two adjacent buildings are adapted into flexible workshop units, allowing for a variety of educational and hands-on production activities. The surrounding landscape design knits the structures together into a cohesive campus, creating a place where history, creativity, and community converge in architectural harmony.
